The Project of "Key Technology Development and Magnetic Research of Fusion CICC High Temperature Superconducting Magnets" Jointly Declared by Institute of Energy was Successfully Approved

A few days ago, the China International Nuclear Fusion Energy Program Execution Center issued a notice on “Establishment of the 2021 National Magnetic Confinement Nuclear Fusion Energy Development Research Project”. The project "Key Technology Development and Magnetic Research of Fusion CICC High Temperature Superconducting Magnets" jointly declared by Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai University, Institute of Electrical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Institute of Energy of Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center (Anhui Energy Laboratory) was successfully approved.

Aiming at the development needs of fusion high temperature superconducting CS magnets, this project carries out research on the preparation of REBCO superconducting tapes, the structural design and manufacturing key technologies of conductors and magnets, and the evaluation of high-field operation performance, so as to realize the rapid batch preparation of high-performance kilometer-level superconducting tapes and the design and development of CICC conductors and magnets for fusion.

The successful approval of this project is conducive to promoting in-depth exchanges among institutes and universities, and plays a vital role in improving the scientific research level of all parties and cultivating high-level talents. The cooperative units will take this opportunity to increase scientific research investment, complement each other's advantages, and strengthen achievements transformation and industrial development.
